Equinox: n.
1. Either of two points on the celestial sphere at which the ecliptic intersects the celestial equator.
2. Either of the two times during a year when the sun crosses the celestial equator and when the length of day and night are approximately equal; the vernal equinox or the autumnal equinox.

the golden white sun
hits its apex
a soft breeze
moves through the laurel
high in a budding ash
a thrush marks
its territory
its call answered
from a distant garden
a fly woken early
by the unexpected warmth
crawls lazily along
the wooden bench arm
hammer strikes on wood
echo across the estate
from beneath the hedge
freyja appears
stalking dead leaves
mewling she pads over
lays at my feet
attacks the straps
of my sandals
and it’s over
the sun dips
starts its journey
towards the west
