Shrove Tuesday

Shrive
1.To hear or receive a confession (of sins etc.)
2.To prescribe penance or absolution
3.To confess, and receive absolution

A thin batter
Milk eggs flour
The last in the larder
Smoking pan smeared
With a little fat
Fried paper thin
Smothered with bitter sweet
Sugar and lemon
One last treat
A forty day desert
Till Easterโ€™s chocolate feast
