Drifting

Tick Tock
Watch the clock
Pray that time won’t
Stop
Give you that extra hour
Stretch the minute
Find the limit
Up to the edge
Look down
Toes clamped
On the ledge
Of it all

Tock Tick
Make it quick
Don’t let it stick
Passing the days
The hours
The months
The years
Working out the fears
Tears
Smile
The wait is nearly over
Overweight
Roll on clover
Vera lynn
White Cliffs of Dover
They’ll be blue birds
Knew words
Handing out ribbon
Silk
Cherry red
To wrap your sweetheart’s heart
A silver bangle
Hand beaten
Handed down
The clasp grasped
In another’s palm
You’ll come to know harm

Tick Tock Tick
The clocks strikes
Hours hold
Minutes stretch
To days
Today

Tock Tick Tock
The clock
Stops
Hands mock
Wait
It starts again
Rolls round
To the beginning
The starting line
On your marks
Get set
Go
Home
